If you google Chiang Mai, you might find pictures of temples and idyllic countryside made up of paddy fields and karst mountains, but now even the Lonely Planet describes it as a modern sprawling city….with coffee shops aplenty.<\/p>\n

It can easily get plonked on your itinerary because that\u2019s \u2018where people go in Thailand.\u2019 But before putting together a holiday, we think it\u2019s worth spending a little bit of time to really have a think about what it is you\u2019re looking for.<\/p>\n
