Kuching, the capital city of the State of Sarawak, is a beautiful small town built along the Sarawak River. Spend the morning on a privately guided tour visiting some of its highlights.
You'll visit the Tua Pek Kong temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Sarawak, built in 1876. There is also chance to view the imposing Fort Margarita and the modern Civic Centre to enjoy a panoramic view of the scenic city. You will have the opportunity to explore St Joseph’s Cathedral, view the traditional Malay houses built on their wooden stilts along the riverbank and the majestic Astana – the former palace of the White Rajahs, now the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak. Stop for few minutes in front of the old colonial Court House, complete with a Clock Tower and a granite obelisk built in memory of the second White Rajah, Charles Brooke.
The highlight of the tour is the visit of the Sarawak Museum, one of the finest in Southeast Asia. It is a treasure house of artefacts and exhibits with great archaeological and cultural significance.
