Myanmar Classic Highlights

DAY 1 - DEPART THE UK

Depart from the UK on an overnight flight to Myanmar (Burma).

DAYS 2&3 - YANGON  exploring unique cultural highlights

On arrival in Yangon, your guide will meet you for the car transfer to your hotel in central Yangon. The first afternoon/evening is free for you to rest after your long flight or start to soak up the local atmosphere. On your first full day in Myanmar, you will have a chance to discover the cultural highlights of Yangon with your guide; this includes a train ride to Indein market, the perfect introduction to local life.

DAY 4-6 - BAGAN  magical temples, sunsets and panoramas

A short flight takes you to Bagan where you will spend three days. During your time here, you will explore the extraordinary sights with your guide in signature Experience Travel Group style. Your tour of the famous temple complex and beyond will include magical sunsets, fantastic panoramas. It will be timed to ensure you enjoy many quiet moments away from the usual crowds.

Day 7-9 - Mandalay  ancient capitals  and colourful markets

It’s a short flight to Mandalay, a city buzzing with life and colour. (As an alternative to flying you could travel by boat – speak to your travel expert for details).

Your first day is free to relax and enjoy your hotel before spending two days exploring the temples, the Irrawaddy River and Ava - one of the four deserted ancient capitals that fringe the city. You’ll experience colourful markets, Buddhist heritage, intricate carvings and sunrise at the famous U Bein Bridge, taking advantage of various modes of transport as you travel around with your guide.

DAY 10-12 - Lake Inle  Exploring life on the lake

Another short flight takes you to Heho, the gateway for Lake Inle and beyond. En route from the airport to your lakeside accommodation, you’ll visit a 19th-century wooden monastery before boarding a private boat towards your hotel.

Inle has a beautiful natural setting with a wide range of wildlife, and it’s also an excellent hub for local culture. During your stay you’ll spend a day exploring the lake and its tributaries by boat, taking in the famous rotating markets and some lesser-known sites. Your visit to Inle will also incorporate a visit to a local wine estate to try some Burmese wine in a beautiful setting.

DAY 13 - Yangon  The sun sets 

Today you depart Lake Inle for a final night in Yangon where Myanmar’s most famous landmark, the Shwedagon Pagoda, is saved until last. This evening you’ll visit the glittering pagoda in the golden rays of the setting sun, the perfect way to end your adventure in Myanmar

DAY 14 - Fly home (or head to the beach!)
